Once upon a time when I was a kid, we just had one TV and one channel Doordarshan. There were few ads on TV but those ads had a big impact on the young minds, like still I think that Colgate is best, I Love you Rasna, Lijat Papad are the best, Swad Bhare Shakti Bhare Parle-G, Vicks ki Goli lo Khich Khic Dur Karo, Surf ki Kharidari main hi samajhdaari hai and so on. . . .
One of the Ad of that time was “Buland Bharat ki Buland Tasveer, Hamara Bajaj. . .” This ad also had a big impact on my mind. I use to think that just like a new and shining Bajaj scooter India is also very prosperous and strong. That time people really use to take care of their scooter with daily wash, proper cleaning, timely service . . . they use to have pride on their Bajaj. I use to think that people take care of India also in the same way. So whenever I use to see Bajaj Scooter I use to sing that slogan and it was a symbol for me of Shining, Strong and Prosperous India.
With the time I forgot about the ad got busy in life, learned the difference between private and public property and accepted the real condition of India. Then suddenly one day I saw this scooter neglected, ruined and standing in a corner and suddenly from nowhere I started humming “Buland Bharat ki Buland Tasveer, Hamara Bajaj. . .” but today meaning was so different.
Aww... brought back such lovely memories... esp of the ad! :) thank you for sharing!
