Still Life Photography or you can say Still Life can be defined as a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells and so on) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewellery, coins, pipes, and so on).
This is the common definition of still life but this definition just gives half knowledge. The second part of still life which is mostly left unsaid is that even when you take pictures of unanimated objects or you can say take pics or paint the life less objects even then you have to put life in them. To be clearer even the life less objects in your art should give a feeling to the viewers that they are living. For example Life is also generally related with the movement so your objects can give a feeling that they can move or can be moved any moment. And when you get a feeling that the things in this art work has life or can move any moment but you had captured them still, will be called as still life.
As an example of still life Photography I am posting some pics with this article. All the pics are of non living things but they give you a feeling that they have life.
