Albert Hall Museum is a museum in Jaipur city. Albert Hall is the oldest museum of the Rajasthan and functions as the State museum. The building is located in Ram Niwas Garden outside the walled city opposite New gate or Chaura Rasta. The foundation stone of Albert Hall was laid by Albert Edward The Prince of Wales on 6 February 1876 and from there only Abert Hall got its name. The building was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob and it is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Maharaja Ram Singh initially wanted this building to be a town hall, but his successor, Madho Singh II approved it as a Museum by the suggestion of Dr. Thomas Holbein Hendley
The artefacts that had been collected from several parts of India and from around the World, were merged and shifted to the Albert hall Museum. The Albert Hall was completed and was opened for public in 1887 as a museum. The museum has a rich collection of artefacts like paintings, carpets, ivory, stone, metal sculptures, colourful crystal works etc. Albert Hall is a very picturistic place from inside and outside both. I will Highly Recommend this place for all the Tourists who visit India and jaipur.

The Egyptian Collection in the Jaipur Museum first finds mention in a guide published in 1885. It speaks of a representative collection of Egyptian antiquities especially put together for the Jaipur Museum by Emile Brugsch, Curator of the museum at Cairo. the guide states that 'as all the articles are genuine and have been collected by one of the principal authorities on the subject, the student will find here all that is necessary to obtain a good insight into the subject of Egyptology'.

Statue of Vaman Vishnu at Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur. |
10th century A.D., Sambhar, Jaipur. Black stone sculputre of Vaman Vishnu with rosary and conch-shell flanked by Ayudhpurush (bearers of Vishnu's attributes the conch and discus) and attendants. his dwarf Avtar was undertaken to subdue king Bali who had gained domination over the three Worlds depriving the gods of their power and dignity. The dwarf begged the generous king for as much land only as he could cover in three steps, which the unsuspecting king granted. then the dwarf Avatar assumed cosmic roportions and in two strides covered the heavens and earth, there being no more space for the third step except the proffered head of the humbled Bali. Thus the worlds were released from Bali's domination but respecting his virtue as a man of his word and a righteous king he was allowed dominion over Patala the nether worlds. As the legend goes his request that he be permitted to return each year at the festival of Onam to visit his people was also granted. His return in spirit is celebrated by the people of Kerala at the festival of Onam.
