'Jawahar Kala Kendra' and 'Nrityashilp' Guru Surendra Nath Jena Odissi Dance Foundation, inaugurated a two-day youth artist classical dance festival in Jaipur on Saturday. Rangayan Auditorium witnessed a mehfil adorned with various classical dances. The presentation of classical dances like Odissi, Mohiniattam, Sattriya, Manipuri, Bharatnatyam, Kathak in the festival brought out the wonderful image of India. Young artistes who performed on the forums of the country and abroad performed here. Classical dances will be presented in Rangayan under this festival from 6:30 pm on Sunday as well.
The program began with an Odissi dance performance by Sauranshi Sushobhana and Jaya Mehta, disciples of Guru Pratibha Jena Singh, Delhi. The presentation depicted various forms of Lord Shiva with worship. The music, poetry and dance composition of the dance was prepared by Guru Surendranath Jena.
Then was the Mesmerizing Mohiniyattam by Shree Rekha G. Nair. Followed by 'Sattriya' by Snigdha Kangkan Taid, Bandana Barman, Ruprekha Das from Assam.
Akoijam Suranjay Singh enthralled the audience with Manipuri dance. Akoijam, who was taking dance lessons from Guru Dhanrani Devi, introduced Krishna Abhisar. It is part of the Raslila, in which Lord Krishna is depicted dancing with Radha and the gopis in Vrindavan. After this, Ritika Banerjee presented an Odissi dance performance on a hymn based on Lord Jagannath.
Rajendra Kumar, Asif Hussain and Toshita Mahesh Asati students of Chhattisgarh's Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, presented a Bharatnatyam dance performance. They presented kirtanams in Ragam Hansadhwani and Talam etc. In this, the stories of Ganga's descent along with various forms of Ganga were shown.
Jaya Mehta performed a Stunning Odissi dance on Hanuman Chalisa. Riddhi Rathod, Mymuna Amin, Ananya Barua, Devashish Maharana and Akash Kumar Ray students of Krishna Kathak Kendra, Gujarat, presented traditional Kathak in Taal Teen Taal.
