Day - 2 of 'Jawahar Kala Kendra' and 'Nrityashilp' Guru Surendra Nath Jena Odissi Dance Foundation, "Youth Artist Classical Dance Festival".
Started with Pune's Atharva Choudhary making his Bharatanatyam debut at the festival. Atharva presented 'Hanuman Kautakam', depicting the Sanjeevani Booti story. Atharva also introduced Javali on Ragam Suruti and Adi Talam. Shreerekha G. Nair, Dr. Dianasreejith, Sreelakshmi Sreejith presented Mohiniyattam depicting the love of the gopis for Krishna on a Hindi bhajan composed by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal. Akoijam Suranjoy Singh brought to life the dance scene of Krishna and the gopis through Manipuri dance.
Prashita Surana, Venu Ayachit, Janvi Ambalia and Jasmine Patel from Gujarat presented the famous Kuchipudi dance of Andhra Pradesh. The presentation was based on the mythological story 'Manduka Saptam', which depicted how Narada Muni transforms a frog into a beautiful woman when Ravana is infatuated with Goddess Parvati. Attracted by this woman (Mandodari), Ravana takes her with him. Vaibhav Kumar, a student of Patitpavan Kala Niketan, New Delhi, performed Taal Jhampa in Odissi and Moksha Nritya based on Raga Kalyan. Kirti Kurande from Pune made her Kathak debut with Durga Stuti. In the acting part, he also presented Thumri of Pt. Bindadin Maharaj, in which Krishna's childhood was described. Snigdha Kangkan Taid, Bandana Barman and Ruprekha Das from Assam presented Sattriya dance.
In the end, all the audience watched the
Odissi dance on Vande Mataram in the style of dance guru Surendra Nath Jena. It was presented by Raudri Singh, Jaya Mehta, Nidhi Kindra, and Souranshi Sushobhana. In this dance composition was by Guru Pratibha Jena Singh and singing by Sangeeta Katti. In the last moments, artists of all other dance styles along with Odissi showed their magic on the stage. This presentation presented a wonderful sight to the audience from the amalgamation of classical dances.
