A spectacle of colors, traditions, and the majestic camels.
The Pushkar Camel Fair, also known as the Pushkar Mela, is an annual livestock fair and cultural extravaganza held in the sacred town of Pushkar, Rajasthan, India. This vibrant celebration is one of the world's largest camel fairs, attracting thousands of visitors from across the globe to witness its unique blend of traditions, colors, and majestic camel. However, in recent years, the fair has also been criticized for being overcrowded, overpriced, and exploitative of animals.
The Pushkar Cattle Fair is a centuries-old tradition. It is believed to have originated in the 14th century when Pushkar was an important trading center. The fair was originally a place where cattle traders from all over India came to buy and sell livestock. However, over time, the fair has evolved into a much larger event, incorporating cultural activities, competitions, and religious ceremonies.
"Totally Overrated"
Old Ground for livestock has been encroached on by Builders and Hoteliers. This year authorities shifted the main attraction of Pushkar Fair "Camels" and other cattle further outside of Pushkar City. The City was overcrowded by Tourists and Photographers. I have been going to Pushkar Fair since 1998 and all I will say is it has lost its charm and now has been totally commercialized. There are many Fairs and festivals in Rajasthan that are still Raw and Untouched for example The Mallinath Cattle Fair, Tilwara. If you people really want to see the True Rajasthan then you have to Explore more and have to leave the popular recommendations aside.
